Last week model and actress
Olga Kurylenko came to our Rehabilitation Center to visit the children and learn more about street and at risk children in Ukraine. Olga starred in the James Bond film,
"Quantum of Solace."
Business men Oleksander Onyshchenko and Nestor Shufyrch joined her.

Illiya, a young man who had lived on the streets as a child, shared his testimony about how our ministry had helped him.

A red boat was passed around to each person. The adults and children shared their dreams and hopes for the future as they were handed the boat.

Then our guests were invited to help color a penciled drawing.

We were thankful for their visit. They donated computer equipment and helped with funds towards the upkeep of the Center.

As they left, they posed on the sidewalk outside for paparazzi!

Of all the kids there, MP Nestor Shufyrch (PRU), who often resorts to fist fights, looks like the riskiest one. He's no positive role model.
Ukrainian law forbids members of parliament from running businesses, and yet most MPs don't give a hoot about it because nobody holds them accountable anyway.
It is thanks to this culture of lawlessness that we have so many children at risk.
As with so many problems in Ukraine, the street children/social orphan situation always seems like a vicious circle when you look at how to really solve the problem. I hope that by meeting these children, he will understand better the problems that the government needs to face and work on in regards to helping these children. Our goal as an organization is to help educate the community and those who do not understand these children and think that they cannot be helped or are worthless. Communication and dialogue is greatly needed before any change can happen.
